Notwithstanding the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, the State has signed MoUs with an investment interest of nearly Rs. 24,000 crore and employment potential of 48,000 jobs in the EV value chain during this period. The growth of the EV manufacturing sector in Tamil Nadu is built up on the solid foundation of automotive supply chain linkages in the State.
The Government of Tamil Nadu expects EVs to play a crucial role, especially in the electrification of last-mile connectivity. To support this goal, Tamil Nadu aims to electrify the vehicular fleets operating in the State by leveraging its vibrant automotive ecosystem comprising OEMs, auto component ancillaries, a large and highly skilled workforce, and robust R&D capabilities.
