With 88,619 EVs sold, the sales in Gujarat increased by 28% in 2023 over the previous year. Comparing this to the 10,885 units sold in 2021, there has been a notable increase of 714% over the course of three years. Gujarat's electric vehicle policy aims to offer a comprehensive solution to the issues hindering the spread of EVs. On the one hand, it tries to raise demand by offering incentives and discounts to consumers. On the other hand, by rewarding infrastructure providers, it tries to build robust EV charging stations and also tries to encourage automakers to develop more EVs. Also, Gujarat being the state with India's largest lithium-ion battery plant says a lot about the state's clear vision to support the Electric Vehicles and Battery Industry in India as much as possible.
