Serbian battery developer ElevenEs said it has partnered with Indian renewable energy company ChemVolt Global to bring its Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery cell technology to India, aiming to boost the country’s battery energy storage systems (BESS) and electric vehicle (EV) battery supply chains.
ElevenEs and ChemVolt Global will collaborate in deploying grid-scale and commercial BESS systems across India and the Middle East, Lithium-Ion cell manufacturing, as well as in supplying EV battery packs to Indian automotive manufacturers, ElevenEs said on Tuesday in a press release.
“This partnership with ElevenEs represents a defining moment for India’s clean energy and electric mobility ambitions. By collaborating with Europe’s foremost cell technology and manufacturing company, we are creating a strong platform to deliver reliable, high-performance BESS and EV battery solutions,” said Kuldeep Gupta, ChemVolt Global CEO.
No details were disclosed about the partnership’s commercial terms, scale, or timeline.
Located in Serbia’s northern city of Subotica, ElevenEs developed the first LFP battery produced in Europe in 2023. In May, it launched a new battery cell built for electric vehicles and industrial machines with a cycle life of at least 500,000 km.
Earlier this year, ElevenEs CEO Nemanja Mikac told SeeNews the company was finalising a project for the construction of a mega factory in Subotica that will produce LFP batteries. ElevenEs aims to achieve an annual energy storage capacity of 1GWh at the planned mega plant. In September, ElevenEs said it plans to start building a 600 million euro ($697 million) gigafactory in Poland by the end of 2027.
ChemVolt Global was founded in 2024 in Gurgaon, southwest of New Delhi, according to its LinkedIn. It specialises in renewable energy and advanced storage solutions, including solar power plants, standalone BESS, hybrid projects, and the upcoming lithium-ion cell manufacturing.
