Audi unveiled India’s inaugural ultra-fast charging station at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai. Developed in collaboration with ChargeZone, the 450kW ‘e-tron hub’ is poised to revolutionise electric vehicle (EV) charging with its high-powered 500 amps liquid-cooled gun, capable of delivering an impressive 360kW of power to EVs.
Located at MMRDA Parking, G Block, Next to The Capital, BKC, Mumbai, the station is strategically positioned to cater to a large number of EV owners. Notably, Audi e-tron owners can enjoy free charging services until March 2024, making it an attractive proposition for the burgeoning EV community.
The green credentials of the charging station align seamlessly with Audi’s commitment to sustainability. Powered entirely by renewable energy, the ‘e-tron hub’ features solar roof panels that contribute to peripheral electrical needs, including lighting. This underscores Audi’s dedication to creating a comprehensive electric vehicle ecosystem.
Audi’s Senior Director, Sales Region Overseas, Alexander von Waldenburg-Dresel, expressed enthusiasm about the initiative, emphasizing Audi’s commitment to expanding the EV charging network. He stated, ‘Setting up India’s fastest EV charger in Mumbai is a great feat and reflects the evolution of EVs in the country.’
Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India, highlighted the significance of the ultra-fast charging station in the brand’s efforts to establish a robust EV ecosystem. Dhillon emphasized the pivotal role of rapid charging infrastructure in addressing concerns about range limitations and ensuring a seamless experience for EV users.
The ‘e-tron hub’ is designed to provide a hassle-free experience, featuring high-powered guns for fast charging and a dedicated lounge for Audi e-tron owners. With trained personnel on-site and convenient navigation through the ‘myAudi Connect’ app, the station aims to offer absolute peace of mind to EV users.
The collaboration with ChargeZone, as expressed by Kartikey Hariyani, Founder & CEO, CHARGE ZONE, marks a landmark development in the creation of a supercharging network in India. He commended Audi India for aligning with their strategic plan of design, engineering, and execution.
Earlier this year, Audi India introduced the ‘Charge my Audi’ initiative on the myAudiConnect app, providing customers with access to multiple charging partners. With complimentary charging available until March 2024, Audi India has successfully installed over 140 chargers across 73 cities, enhancing the ease of EV ownership.
