Tata Motors Partners with Jaguar Land Rover for Avinya Electric Vehicle Series

Tata Motors has collaborated with Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) to develop Tata Motors’ premium electric vehicle series, Avinya. Through an agreement between Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM) and JLR, the latter has licensed its platform to TPEM for the production of the Avinya series electric vehicles in exchange for a royalty fee. The collaboration is expected to create over 200 new jobs in the UK, as stated by Tata Motors.

Furthermore, TPEM and JLR are set to engage in an Engineering Services Agreement (ESA) to facilitate the fulfilment of TPEM’s content requirements for the initial vehicle development, according to a statement from Tata Motors. JLR’s Electric Modular Architecture (EMA) platform will serve as the foundation for JLR’s forthcoming ‘pure electric’ midsize SUVs for global markets, scheduled for release from 2025 onward. Access to the EMA platform is anticipated to expedite TPEM’s entry into the high-end electric vehicle sector while reducing development time and expenses.

Anand Kulkarni, Chief Product Officer and Head of HV Programmes at TPEM, remarked that Avinya will usher in a new era of top-tier electric vehicles equipped with cutting-edge technology, software, and artificial intelligence, ensuring global standards of efficiency and range.
