Hyderabad, 15 October 2026: Hala Mobility, an EV-as-a-service platform supporting last-mile delivery across nine cities in India, has introduced three new products under its existing SEED ecosystem (Sustainable Ecosystem to Empower Delivery Partners). The offerings include Kavach, an accident and health cover priced at ₹2 a day, Swayam, which gives eligible gig workers access to a portion of their earned income before their regular payday, and Twinfinity, Hala’s in-house battery swapping network that enables riders to replace a drained battery with a fully charged one in under 60 seconds.
Hala currently operates across Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Kolkata, supporting around 25,000+ gig workers through its EV-as-a-service platform.
For gig workers, the ability to earn consistently can often be affected by challenges that go beyond the availability of work itself. Limited access to affordable insurance, the need to wait for scheduled payouts even after earnings have been generated, and time lost to EV charging can directly affect a rider’s financial stability and earning potential. These challenges are particularly relevant in a work environment where income can vary from day to day and even small disruptions can have an impact on take-home earnings. Hala’s three offerings under SEED are designed to address these gaps across protection, financial access and mobility infrastructure.
Kavach has been designed around the earning patterns of gig workers, for whom conventional insurance products can often be difficult to access or afford. At ₹2 a day, the product provides accident and health cover while keeping the cost within the everyday spending patterns of delivery riders. The offering is aimed at making basic financial protection more accessible to workers whose income can vary depending on the number of deliveries they complete.
Swayam addresses another common challenge faced by gig workers who may earn daily but have to wait for a fixed payout cycle to access their money. The platform allows eligible riders to access money they have already earned before their usual payday. Hala uses its own data on a rider’s work and earnings to assess eligibility, creating a model that takes into account the income patterns of gig workers that may not always fit traditional credit assessment frameworks. Over time, this can also help create a more formal financial footprint for riders and potentially improve access to larger forms of credit.
Twinfinity addresses the operational side of a rider’s livelihood by reducing the time spent waiting for an EV to charge. Hala’s battery swapping network allows riders to exchange a depleted battery for a fully charged one in under 60 seconds. The company has developed the battery, swapping stations and software powering the network in-house, allowing it to build the infrastructure around the specific needs of last-mile delivery riders.
Dr. Srikanth Reddy Kalakonda, Co-Founder & CEO, Hala Mobility, said, “For gig workers, earning a livelihood is closely connected to having the right support around them. With Kavach, we are making protection more accessible at ₹2 a day, with Swayam, we are giving riders greater flexibility over money they have already earned, and with Twinfinity, we are helping them spend less time waiting and more time earning. These products come from looking at the everyday challenges riders face beyond the vehicle itself. Our aim is to build an ecosystem that supports the rider across financial security, access to income and mobility, while making gig work more sustainable and efficient.”
With Kavach, Swayam and Twinfinity, Hala is expanding the role of SEED from a mobility-focused offering into a broader ecosystem built around the needs of gig workers. By bringing together insurance, financial access and battery infrastructure, the company aims to address some of the practical barriers that can affect a rider’s ability to work and earn consistently.
As India’s gig economy and last-mile delivery network continue to expand, Hala plans to continue building out SEED, its Sustainable Ecosystem to Empower Delivery Partners, with solutions that address the evolving needs of riders. Hala’s larger objective is to go beyond providing access to EVs and build a more resilient support system around the people who depend on last-mile delivery work for their livelihoods.
