Ather Energy has finally formally announced its two-wheeler exchange program. What this means is that if you own a petrol-powered two-wheeler, you can now exchange it for an electric two-wheeler! Great news for electric vehicle enthusiasts in the country, we reckon. News about the popular two-wheeler manufacturer considering such a program first broke last month, when Ather Energy’s co-founder and chief executive officer Tarun Mehta said the lockdown had driven the company to reevaluate its long term goals.
Ather Energy has tied up with CredR, a used two-wheeler company, for this program. For now, the exchange program is available only in Bengaluru and Chennai.
Under the purview of this exchange program, CredR, a used two-wheeler company, will offer instant price quotes for old petrol two-wheelers. This price quote will then be used to cut down the upfront cost of buying one of Ather’s electric scooters in India.
Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy, said, “Since our launch in 2018, we’ve constantly been looking for new and innovative ownership models for our vehicles, and this is another step in that direction. This exchange program makes the entire process more seamless for owners and reduces the stress of personally trying to sell their vehicles. CredR has been doing a great job with second-hand two-wheelers and offering extremely competitive rates, making the whole purchase experience transparent and easy, while reducing the total cost of ownership.”
Ather Energy noted that via this association with CredR, owners will be able to quickly and easily trade their old two-wheelers for an electric scooter. In fact, the company assures that folks who opt to switch to Ather e-scooters via the exchange program will receive their new vehicle within days.
Now, the big question: How do can you exchange my old scooter or bike for a new Ather e scooter.
Here’s how that goes:
- Bring in your old petrol 2wheelers to Ather Space for an inspection. Once that is done, an instant price quote/estimate will be generated
via the CredR-powered app. - CredR will then verify the documents and the health of the petrol two-wheeler.
- The exchange price will then be adjusted against the final cost of the new Ather scooters.
It must be noted that the Ather 2wheeler exchange program is currently available only in Bengaluru and Chennai. However, the company added the availability of this program will be extended across India as partner experience centres open in the coming months.
