Okinawa will launch 100% localized, first-electric motorcycle, Oki100 in the third quarter of the financial year 2020-21 at around Rs 1 lakh, a top company official said.
The electric two-wheeler manufacturer claims that Oki100 will clock a top speed of 100 kmph.
In an interview, Jeetender Sharma managing director, Okinawa said, “We will be entering the electric motorcycle segment with the Oki100 during the festive season. In a price-sensitive market, it’s important to keep the price competitive.”
Oki100, a possible Revolt RV400 challenger, will be priced around Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom), confirmed Sharma. The bike’s prototype was showcased at Auto Expo 2018.
Agreeing with reports and studies, Sharma said the personal mobility is set to grow post-lockdown. “I’m sure this year it will be the rise of EVs. An increase in demand will push more and more vehicles to come. Based on running and capital costs, electric two-wheelers will be on the same page as BS6-compliant, internal combustion-engine powered ones,” he added.
