Mahindra Electric Launches MESMA 48 Platform For Light EVs

Mahindra Electric Mobility on Wednesday, the World EV Day, has announced the global launch of its MESMA 48 platform for light electric vehicles.

The Mahindra Electric Scalable Modular Architecture (MESMA) 48 platform is capable of offering competitive quality and is cost-effective. The EV wing of the Mahindra Group also claims that this platform is one of its most utilized EV technology solution architecture.

MESMA 48 platform comes alongside Mahindra Electric’s other EV architectures like MESMA 72 and MESMA 350, meant for different categories of vehicles.

Mahesh Babu, MD and CEO of Mahindra Electric Mobility, India, said, “Our goal with EVs is to revolutionise the first and the last-mile transportation globally and take e-mobility to the masses. World EV Day is a great forum for us to discuss the next big ideas for the global markets, and we take this opportunity to launch our MESMA 48 platform globally.”

MESMA 48 platform for light electric vehicles is claimed to be highly scalable and this architecture has so far underpinned more than 11,000 EVs in India. The architecture can underpin three-wheelers, quadricycles and compact cars.

The automaker claims that this scalable architecture offers voltage systems ranging from 44V to 96V and it delivers better acceleration than ICE counterparts. Its components are available in both liquid and air-cooled configurations as per requirement.

The drivetrain, with power ranging from 6kW to 40kW and subsequent torque ranging from 40 Nm to 120 Nm, can be made available with three varying transmission ratios to suit the performance requirements. This architecture can offer a top speed of 80 kmph.

The automaker also said that this platform is compatible with both rigid and flexible axle systems, and suitable for L5, L6 and L7 categories.
