Harley-Davidson To Auction Unique LiveWire Electric Bike To Raise Funds For COVID-19 Campaign

Harley-Davidson, the famous motorcycle maker, has taken a number of initiatives to support the ongoing fight against Coronavirus. The American company has partnered with NGOs and organizations to provide relief measures including distributing food. The company, which enjoys a cult following in the US is also encouraging biker communities to provide necessary help including distributing personal protective equipment kits to front line workers and also make monetary contributions if they wish to through various NGOs. In addition to all this, Harley-Davidson has also decided to raise funds to support the fight against COVID-19. The motorcycle maker will do this by auctioning a very special unique model of its first electric motorcycle — LiveWire.

This one-off Harley-Davidson LiveWire will be up for online auction and all the proceeds will go to United Way Covid Relief Fund in the fight against Coroanvirus pandemic in the US. This special edition LiveWire is custom painted and comes equipped with carbon fibre accessories. To make it all the more exclusive, this one-off is signed by Davidson family and will be delivered to the winning bidder. The company is yet to announce further details about this auction. However, it will be conducted online keeping social distancing in mind as well as restricted mobility in the country.

Launched last year in America and Canada, the LiveWire is Harley-Davidson’s first fully electric bike and was first showcased at EICMA 2018. It makes use of an especially developed H-D Revelation electric powertrain. It includes a 15.5 kWh battery which puts out 105 bhp and 116 Nm of peak torque. This setup can propel the bike from 0 to 100 km/h in mere 3 seconds. Harley LiveWire offers 235 km riding range in city conditions and 152 km over combined stop-and-go and highway conditions. As opposed to Harley-Davidson’s cruiser bikes, which are sparsely equipped, this e-bike boasts of ample modern gadgetry. For starters, it gets a 4.3-inch TFT screen for the instrument panel, seven different riding modes, cornering ABS, cornering traction control system, and drag-torque slip control system as part of the electronic aids.
