Honda aims to capture a 30% share of the Indian two-wheeler market by 2030, aligning with its global goal of achieving half of worldwide two-wheeler sales. A key focus for Honda in India is increasing sales to female consumers, a segment that currently accounts for only 10% of their sales but presents significant growth opportunities.
Despite optimism about the growth of electric vehicles (EVs) in India, Honda recognizes the current challenges related to charging infrastructure and electricity supply. To prepare for the EV transition, Honda plans to set up a dedicated EV manufacturing plant in India by 2028, with details about its location and investment still pending. Globally, Honda intends to launch 30 electric models by 2030, targeting annual sales of 4 million electric units worldwide, and seeks to become the market leader in India’s electric two-wheeler segment.
In terms of recent sales, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) sold 4,789,283 units in FY25, an increase from 4,093,895 units in FY24. However, HMSI remains the second-largest player in the Indian two-wheeler market, behind Hero MotoCorp.
