Bharat Mobility Expo – Honda Benly e: Electric Scooter Unveiled With Battery Swapping Technology

Honda 2 Wheeler India has unveiled its first electric two-wheeler in the Indian market, showing off the Benly e electric scooter at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2024. The Honda Benly e electric scooter, which has been seen testing in Bengaluru, is in line with the worldwide trend towards eco-friendly technologies in response to the worsening energy crisis. Electric vehicles are quickly becoming the norm in the automobile business, making internal combustion engines look outdated.

The scooter is available in four different versions in international markets: Benly e I, Benly e I Pro, Benly e II, and Benly e II Pro. Specifically, the scooter is equipped with Honda’s modern Mobile Power Pack interchangeable batteries, a technology that is now being tested in the Indian market.

Honda Benly e Electric Scooter: Specifications

The Honda Benly e is a simple two-wheeled cargo carrier that stands out due to its practical design. With its rear flat loading deck and front apron basket attach option, this electric vehicle (EV) expertly combines both design and functionality. The design incorporates a digital instrument cluster, a charging plug, and an LED light.

The scooter’s 12-inch front and 10-inch rear wheels provide stability, and the front and back suspensions are telescopic forks and mono shocks, respectively, supporting the chassis. The Benly e can reach speeds of 55-60 km/h and weighs 127 kg thanks to its two 1.3 kWh battery packs. Honda has lofty goals to introduce the scooter to the Indian market by the end of the year, and it is now functioning as a test vehicle for the company’s battery-swapping technology.

Ongoing testing of the Benly e electric scooter implies a possible market entry, even though Honda India has not made an official announcement about it. If this plan comes to fruition, Honda will lead the pack of popular two-wheeler manufacturers in introducing an electric vehicle for commercial use.
