TVS Motor-backed sustainable mobility startup Ultraviolette Automotive has raised an undisclosed amount in a Series B investment round from Kumar Vembu, CEO of GoFrugal Technologies.
Earlier, Vembu had invested in the company in its Series A funding and now joins TVS Motor Company, who had invested INR 30 Cr in Ultraviolette in Series B funding in September.
With this investment, Ultraviolette is looking to scale up its operations in the immediate future by expanding the team, investing further in R&D and building manufacturing capabilities.
Founded in 2016 by Narayan Subramaniam and Niraj Rajmohan, Bengaluru-based Ultraviolette Automotive specialises in sustainable mobility and energy infrastructure.
Ultraviolette Automotive got two-wheeler maker TVS on board as an investor in 2017. TVS had acquired 14.78% stake in the company in 2017, and later got an additional 10.98% stake in 2018. In both the deals, TVS has invested $1.5 Mn (INR 11 Cr) to hold 25.65% shares in Ultraviolette Automotive.
Before getting TVS on board, the company was bootstrapping itself with a capital of $77.5K (INR 50 Lakh). Ultraviolette Automotive had reported a revenue of $ 480 (INR 31,570) in 2015-16 and $5K (INR 3.21 Lakh) in 2016-17.
In 2019, the company had launched its zero-emission connected electric motorcycle, F77 which is enabled with ride GPS fleet tracking, remote diagnostics, over-the-air (OTA) or wireless upgrades, regenerative braking, multiple ride modes, ride analytics and bike tracking.
