Over the past few years, India has witnessed a rapid rise in the number of electric vehicles in the market, thanks to the government’s continued push for electric mobility in the country. And now we have yet another company adding its name to the growing list of EV manufacturers in India — Odysse Electric Vehicles. The Mumbai-based electric vehicle manufacturer announced the launch of its new dealership in Mumbai. The company had originally intended to go bullish with its electric two-wheelers business around March, but that plan had to be pushed back owing to the entire country being put on lockdown. However, now that things are back up and running, Odysse is ready to make its mark in the Indian electric two wheeler market.
Odysse has started its innings with Racer and Hawk electric scooters and the Evoqis electric bike. Odysse Racer e scooter’s prices starts at ₹59,500, while the Odysse Evoqis electric motorcycle gets a price tag of ₹1.5 lakh.
Nemin Vora, Chief Executive Officer, Odysse Electric Vehicles, said, “India is transitioning towards clean mobility and with PM Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Vocal for Local’, Odysse is playing a significant role in bolstering this with local suppliers in India. With Odysse, we want to bring about a change in how people commute and our range of electric scooters and bikes suit all type of riders, from young to old, youthful trendy buyers and comfort seekers to busy business riders.”
The Odysse Racer comes equipped with a 1.2 kW electric motor that develops a peak torque 27 Nm. It offers a riding range of 70 km on a single charge and can achieve a top speed of 45 km/h. Next up in the range is the Odysse Hawk e scooter, which gets a 1.8 kW electric motor and offers a riding range of 70 km/charge. The Odysse Hawk+, on the other hand, is claimed to deliver a riding range of 170 km on a single charge.
Finally, the Odysse Evoqis electric bike; featuring a 3 kW electric motor and a lithium-ion battery, it is capable of achieving a top speed of 80 km/h.
