Ather Energy has launched the Eight70 Warranty, a long-term battery health assurance programme for its Ather 450 series and Rizta scooters. Developed in collaboration with Reliance General Insurance, the initiative addresses key concerns of electric vehicle (EV) buyers, particularly around battery longevity and replacement costs.
The Eight70 Warranty covers up to eight years or 80,000 kilometres, ensuring a minimum of 70% battery health throughout the period. It provides comprehensive protection against manufacturing defects and failures, with no upper claim limit. Additionally, claims cannot be rejected due to deep discharge caused by extended periods of non-use or leaving the battery uncharged.
Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer at Ather Energy, stated that the warranty aims to ease customer apprehensions about battery durability and costs. “This initiative offers assurance to EV owners, eliminating concerns about long-term battery health,” he said.
Rakesh Jain, CEO of Reliance General Insurance, emphasised the significance of the collaboration. “This partnership reflects our commitment to supporting EV adoption by providing robust protection for EV owners. We believe it will strengthen trust in the EV ecosystem and encourage wider adoption of sustainable mobility,” he added.
The Eight70 Warranty serves as a three-year add-on to Ather’s existing five-year warranty included in the Pro-Pack. Priced at ₹4,999 (inclusive of GST), it is available to customers opting for the Pro-Pack, offering enhanced peace of mind.
Ather’s product portfolio features the performance-oriented 450 series, including models like the 450X, 450S, and 450 Apex, and the Rizta, launched earlier this year to cater to family-centric buyers. This warranty aligns with Ather’s commitment to providing a reliable EV ownership experience.
By addressing long-standing concerns about battery performance, Ather Energy aims to bolster consumer confidence in EV adoption and contribute to the growth of the sustainable mobility sector.
