Bengaluru-based startup Simple Energy has announced that it will be launching the Simple Dot One electric scooter on December 15, 2023. With a price tag of under Rs 1 lakh, the Simple Dot One will directly compete with the Ola S1 X. This new offering will sit below the Simple One EV in the company’s lineup.

Bookings for the Simple Dot One will open on December 15, and deliveries are expected to begin in January 2024. The scooter will be built on the same platform as the Simple One and will come equipped with a fixed 3.7 kWh battery pack. It is certified to offer a range of 151 kilometers, which extends to 160 kilometers in IDC testing.

While the company hasn’t disclosed specific details about the electric motor, it is anticipated that the Simple Dot One will have a less powerful motor compared to the one found in the Simple One. In terms of design, the Simple Dot One will closely resemble the Simple One, albeit with some minor cosmetic tweaks. It is speculated that the scooter might forgo disc brakes in favor of drum brakes with CBS.

The Simple Dot One is expected to feature a telescopic suspension unit at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Notable features of the scooter include a touchscreen instrument cluster with app connectivity, all-LED lighting, navigation, Bluetooth integration for phone connectivity, and message notifications.

The Simple One, on the other hand, is powered by a 5 kWh battery pack and an electric motor that delivers a peak power output of 8.5 kW and a continuous power output of 4.5 kW. According to the company, the Simple One accelerates from 0 to 40 kph in just 2.77 seconds and boasts a top speed of 105 kmph. It offers a claimed range of 212 kilometers and comes with four ride modes – Eco, Ride, Dash, and Sonic.”
