15% Electric Vehicles In 3 Years, HP Govt. Has Set a Target

In order to make a pollution free environment in the state, the Himachal Pradesh government has decided to replace fifteen percent old vehicles with electric vehicles as per the Electric vehicle policy announced in 2021.
HP Transport Minister Bikram Singh said an exhibition of electric vehicles would be organized by the Transport Department on the occasion of International Shivratri Festival at Paddal Ground in Mandi for which he invited the people to take part in large numbers.

He said Himachal Pradesh would be made the hub of electric vehicles in the coming years. The state government has set a target to replace 15 per cent of the vehicles in the state with electric vehicles by the year 2025.
He said motor vehicle inspectors would be deputed by the department to make available information to the people in the exhibition. Various models of vehicles will be displayed in this exhibition. The Transport Minister said the maintenance cost of electric vehicles is less and the cost per kilometer in electric vehicles is less as compared to petrol and diesel vehicles. Batteries of small electric vehicles can be charged at home by connecting them to electrical sockets and are much cheaper than petrol, diesel and gasoline, the minister added.
