The EV arm of Ashok Leyland is set to launch a 12-metre bus this June and a new eLCV in India in early 2023. The company is also launching a 12-metre bus for the European market which will be displayed at the European Mobility Expo in Paris in June. The product is a part of Project ODIN and the vehicle is equipped with the latest NMC battery technology and digital features.
Mahesh Babu, Director & CEO, Switch Mobility India, and COO, Switch Mobility said, “ Switch EV buses in India have clocked over 7 million kms across the country, saving 4500 tonnes of CO2, with a significant uptime of over 97 percent.”
A year since its inception, the company said it has expanded to nine sites across three countries – the UK, Spain and India, in line with the company’s global growth strategy. In March, it set up a manufacturing facility in Valladolid, Spain supported by a planned €100 million investment over the next decade. This is expected to create 7,000 direct and indirect jobs in the region.
Switch also announced £300 million investment in April 2022 to set up a technical centre in Warwick and a new office in Chennai, that will increase its employee strength by up to 4000 across the UK and India in the medium term.
