Rajasthan Electronics To Empanel Agencies To Set Up 1,000 EV Charging Stations

The Rajasthan Electronics and Instruments Limited (REIL), a government-owned manufacturer of electronic products, has invited bids for the empanelment of agencies for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.

The company plans to set up more than 1,000 EV charging stations in 75 plus cities across the country. The scope of work includes the identification of location, development, operation, and maintenance of the interoperable electric chargers and its associated infrastructure for all segments of EVs.

The last date for the submission of bids is October 12, 2020.

To take part in the competitive bidding process, the bidder should have experience in the automobile sector, e-mobility, and operation of EV charging infrastructure. The bidder should be financially sound and should be in a condition to invest ₹1 billion (~$13.57 million) in the EV charging infrastructure business.

The bidder should have experience in mobile application development, the know-how of information technology, and online platforms, and should have trained IT workforce and infrastructure. The bidder should have a pan-India support network for the operation of the EV charging infrastructure.

The Department of Heavy Industries has approved 2,636 EV charging stations in 62 cities across 24 states and union territories under the second phase of FAME India (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles in India) program.

In February this year, REIL floated an EoI to empanel agencies to set up electric vehicle charging stations in Rajasthan. The scope of the work included identifying the locations, development, installation, operation, and maintenance of the EV charging stations and the associated infrastructure for all segments of EVs.

Previously, REIL also issued a tender to set up 270 EV charging equipment across various locations in the country. The scope of work included installing 70 regular AC chargers, 170 DC fast chargers, and 30 DC fast chargers with 100 kW charging stations in the cities of Ranchi, Bengaluru, Goa, Shimla, Hyderabad, Agra, as well as on the Delhi-Jaipur-Agra and Mumbai-Pune highways.
