MG India to deliver 3000 EVs for Vertelo fleet

MG (Morris Garages), a British automobile brand with a 100-year-old legacy, has signed an MoU with Vertelo, a Macquarie-managed integrated fleet electrification platform, funded by Green Climate Fund.

The partnership includes the delivery of 3,000 MG electric vehicles to Vertelo in a phased manner. The partnership will also work to establish a robust EV charging infrastructure in the country, MG India said on Thursday.

Gaurav Gupta, Chief Growth Officer, MG India, said, “MG is constantly working towards offering electric mobility solutions and strengthening the EV infrastructure. This partnership between MG India and Vertelo demonstrates a shared vision for a green and sustainable future with decarbonisation in India. We also believe that this collaboration will augment our endeavours to offer advanced e-mobility solutions for passengers and boost the faster adoption of EVs in the country.”

Sandeep Gambhir, Chief Executive Officer, Vertelo, said, “This partnership with MG Motor India to purchase around 3,000 electric cars, marks the beginning of an exciting journey for both organisations with a common goal of accelerating fleet electrification and achieving Net-zero emissions. We are really excited about this partnership, and we hope that the exciting range of electric vehicles that MG Motor plans to bring in India over the next few years coupled with Vertelo’s integrated electrification solutions for fleet operators & corporates will go a long way in accelerating the shift towards a more sustainable transportation ecosystem.”

MG’s vehicles highlight its leadership in auto-tech, consistently pioneering the introduction of futuristic solutions to its customers. Its current EV lineup includes the MG Comet—the Smart EV, a practical urban mobility solution. Additionally, the ZS EV, India’s first pure-electric internet SUV, provides a spacious and luxurious in-cabin experience, making it a comfortable and lucrative mobility choice, the company said in a media release.

MG India has been instrumental in establishing a robust EV charging infrastructure with its ecosystem partners – Exicom Telesystems, ElectreeFi, EchargerBays, Ionage, Statiq, Epsilon & Highway Delite and deployed 7.4kW chargers, averaging one installation per day, covering approximately 50 major cities. The company is also working closely with Glida, TPCL, BPCL, Jio-bp, Zeon, and ChargeZone for setting up EV charging infrastructure, and with Attero and Lohum for battery recycling, reuse, and life extension. Recently, it has partnered with Shoonya, the Zero Pollution Mobility campaign, led by NITI Aayog, the release added.
