The Light Electric Combined Charging System (LECCS), the official Indian EV charging connector standard, is now recognised as a plug type on Google Maps. Users can set LECCS as their default connector or plug type, ensuring that chargers with LECCS appear when searching for “EV charger near me” or “charging stations.”
Nationwide Adoption of LECCS
Ather Grid’s fast-charging network for electric two-wheelers utilises the indigenously developed LECCS, which has been approved for nationwide adoption by the Bureau of Indian Standards. Launched last year, this standard is seen as a significant step towards creating a universal standard through interoperability, promoting wider adoption of electric vehicles in India.
As of March 30th, 2024, Ather Energy has made 1,973 fast chargers available to the public. This extensive network underscores Ather’s commitment to providing a seamless charging experience for its customers.
Innovative Features and Technologies
Since its inception in 2013, Ather Energy has focused heavily on research and development to drive innovation in the EV industry. The company has introduced several industry-first features such as a touch-screen dashboard, on-board navigation, fast charging for electric two-wheelers, reverse mode, and a mobile app.
More recently, Ather has integrated popular consumer technologies into its two-wheelers. These include Google Maps navigation, Alexa skills, and WhatsApp notifications. These integrations reflect Ather’s ongoing efforts to enhance user experience by incorporating familiar technologies into their products.
This collaboration between Ather Energy and Google marks a significant advancement in making EV charging more accessible and convenient for users across India.
