Ather Energy, renowned for its electric vehicles, plans to introduce the Ather Rizta into the family scooter market in April 2024. This move aims to bolster its presence in a segment that constitutes 83 per cent of India’s total two-wheeler sales.
In addition to this expansion, the company plans to introduce electric motorcycles within the next three to five years. While the company has primarily focused on the performance segment with models like the Ather 450, it now seeks to establish a solid foothold in the broader market.
Emphasising growth in the family-oriented space, the new products will prioritise features like enhanced storage capacity and larger screens.
According to industry data, performance segment two-wheeler sales stand at approximately 0.8 million units. In contrast, the family segment sees around 2.4 million sales for vehicles above 110 cc and nearly three million for those below 110 cc.
