German auto parts and technology supplier ZF on Thursday unveiled its new e-mobility solutions and said it would continue to adapt its research and development activity to the needs of the Chinese market.

Speaking at its annual Global Technology Day demonstration event here, ZF CEO Holger Klein said China is a very “innovation-loving and -giving market.” “So it is not a coincidence that the fully e-drive chassis was first presented in China,” he said.

Klein told Xinhua that the company’s R&D activities in China are becoming increasingly important for ZF because the company needs localization to gain speed in this market.

He said ZF’s engineers in China are developing specific products for the Chinese markets with high efficiency, which have been valued by the customers.

“We continue to open new plants and bring more local expertise into the market,” he said.

At the event, ZF presented an electric concept vehicle EVbeat, which is designed for maximum compactness, low weight, and maximum efficiency in real operation. In this ZF electric vehicle, the components of an e-driveline have been optimized and combined into a holistic system.

A thermal management system, also a part of this concept vehicle, offers a more compact design of the drive and can increase the range of electric vehicles in winter by up to one third, the company said.

While unveiling the new system, ZF announced that it would speed up its transformation to e-mobility.

“Not only are we consistently pursuing our strategy of sustainable and efficient mobility for the future, but we are also adapting our development processes to the new speed of our industry,” the company said in a press release.
