Govt on Tuesday decided on the model for setting up electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in Goa, with the state bearing 50% of the cost and
charging station developers bearing the remaining 50%.
Govt decided to change the status of Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA) from a society to a company to promote renewable energy in Goa.
Chief minister Pramod Sawant chaired a meeting to review key initiatives related to renewable energy in Goa in the presence of secretaries and senior officials of finance, home, and general administration departments and Goa State Pollution Control Board.
“The transition of GEDA from a society to a company is for more efficient operations,” Sawant said. The meeting approved the recruitment of an MD and essential staff to strengthen GEDA’s capacity.
On renewable energy expansion, Sawant said there is a focused strategy to boost solar, biogas, and water-heating projects across Goa. Sawant said that under PM Suryaghar Yojana, consumers will get safe and reliable annual maintenance contracts for the flagship rooftop solar energy scheme.
