Ola will be launching its new Gen 3 platform on January 31. Ola had previously revealed details about the third-generation products in an investor call, however, the company had not mentioned any timeline. Now, Ola has officially announced the launch. The new platform will spawn multiple new products and be more efficient, as per the company.

Ola Gen 3 platform — What is it about?

The third-generation Ola platform will see significant changes to the battery pack and motor — integrated battery, magnetless motor, and electronics packed within the chassis. This, Ola says will increase efficiency by 26 percent while also helping the company cut costs by 20 percent. The magnetless motor will offer better torque owing to the magnetised electrical coils instead of a permanent magnet.

That said, the new platform will also spawn two new series – S2 and S3 – alongside the existing S1 range. The S2 brand will consist of three models, a city-friendly commuter, a tourer for long-distance travel and a performance-oriented version. The S3 range, on the other hand, will focus on premium products such as a maxi scooter and an adventure model.

The first of the Gen 3 platforms will most likely be the S1 range of scooters, as this was discussed in an event at the Ola factory last year, while there are high chances of Ola launching or showcasing the electric motorcycle range as well, which the company recently shared on X.
